Question

Sulphur does not conduct electricity whereas magnesium conduct electricity explain

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student, Sulphur does not conduct electricity because it is a non metal whereas magnesium is a metal. The electrons in metal are delocalised electrons and are free moving electrons so when they gain energy (heat) they vibrate more quickly and can move around, this means that they can pass on the energy more quickly. Whereas non metals, they don't have free electrons to pass on so they do not conduct electricity. Regards
