Dear Student,
The village of Palampur has about 450 families belonging to several castes. The 80 families from upper caste own majority of land in the village. Some of their houses are quite large and are made of brick with cement plastering. Most of their houses have electric connections. Electricity generates power to all the tube wells in the agricultural fields and it is used in various types of small businesses. With regard to education sector, Palampur has two primary schools and one high school. A primary health center run by the government and one private dispensary are the two medical outfits where the sick and diseased get treated.
In Palampur, 75% of the people engaged in agricultural activities as farming constitute the main occupation of the villagers. No land is made waste as even the waste land was brought under cultivation. Farmers have engaged themselves in multiple croping while growing at least three crops in a year. Crop rotation or multiple cropping is the wonderful feature practised by the agriculturists in Palampur. Sophisticated irrigation facilities alongside usage of high yielding varieties of seeds in cultivation has contributed to green revolution in Palampur. The non - framing activities in Palampur include Diary farming, Small - scale manufacturing, Shop - keeping and other transportation activities. Unlike real villages of India, Palampur is a hypothetical utopian village.
