Solution

Step 1: Formation of rainbow

  1. Rainbows are created by the combined effect of solar light dispersion, refraction, and total internal reflection by droplets of water in the atmosphere.
  2. A rainbow is always formed in the opposite direction of the sun.
  3. The rainbow can be observed by standing between the sun and a cloud after a shower and looking at clouds where water droplets act as prisms.

Step 2:

a. Dispersion of light

  1. The name of the phenomenon is the dispersion of light.
  2. In the dispersion of light, the white light splits into its seven-color component on passing through a prism.
  3. The violet color more deviates due to its least wavelength.

b. Values are shown by Sundar's father

  1. Sundar's father has shown responsibility toward Sundar as he tolled him about the formation of the rainbow.
  2. Sundar's father has shown integrity and honesty by telling about the dispersion of light.
