Solution
The correct option is D Livestock Artificial breeding
Artificial breeding is a type of animal breeding. It uses modern technologies, like artificial insemination, superovulation and embryo transfer for improving the quality of livestock.
Artificial insemination
Artificial insemination (AI) involves placing semen from a donor male, directly into the uterus.
Superovulation
In superovulation a superior female is induced to shed 4 - 6 eggs by administering FSH (Follicle-stimulating hormone). The superovulated donor is artificially inseminated with semen from a superior donor male. The eggs so fertilised are then flushed out. These good quality embryos are now transferred to a surrogate mother.
Embryo transfer
Embryo transfer involves transferring fertilised ova from a donor female to a recipient female who then rears the embryo.
