Solution

Solution : 2 Marks

The ratio of weight of sugar to number of crystals remains a constant.

(i) Let the number of sugar crystals in 5 kg of sugar be x.
Since 2 kg of sugar contains 9×106crystals.

So, 29×106=5x

x=22.5×106 crystals in 5 kg of sugar.

(ii) Let the number of sugar crystals in 1.2 kg of sugar be y.
Since 2 kg of sugar contains 9×106crystals.

So, 29×106=1.2y

y=5.4×106 crystals in 1.2 kg of sugar.
