Question

Suppose that a box is accelerating at a rate of 2ms2. If the net force is tripled and the mass is doubled, then what is the new acceleration of the box?

___ms2.

Solution

Let F be the force acting on the body with mass M.

given acceleration a=2ms2

F=Ma

a=FM=2ms2(1)

Now, the force is tripple and mass is doubled.

F1=3F,M1=2M

a1 be the new acceleration

F1=M1a1

a1=F1M1=3F2M

From (1) the value of FM=2

a1=32×2=3ms2
