After some time, they come to the middle of the boat. Neglecting water resistance, how far does the boat move on the water during the process?

The correct option is B 16 m
Mass of boat =m1=50 kg
Mass of Suresh =m2=60 kg
Mass of Shyam =m3=70 kg

When they come to middle,
Let displacement (Δx1) of boat w.r.t ground =d
Displacement (Δx2) of Suresh w.r.t ground = displacement of Suresh w.r.t boat + displacement of boat w.r.t ground =(3+d)
Displacement(Δx3) of Shyam w.r.t ground = displacement of Shyam w.r.t boat + displacement of boat w.r.t ground =(3+d)


Since, initially all were at rest and no external force is acting in horizontal direction,
ΔxCOM=0

m1Δx1+m2Δx2+m3Δx3m1+m2+m3=0

50d+60(d+3)+70(d3)50+60+70
