Survival of plants in terrestrial environment has been made possible by the presence of:
Conducting tissue
Conducting tissue helps the plant to survive in a terrestrial environment by conducting food and water to all the parts of the plant. In plants, there are two kinds of conducting tissues
1. Xylem: It is the water-conducting tissue of plants. It is composed of vessels, tracheids, fibres and xylem parenchyma.
2. Phloem: It is the food-conducting tissue of the plants. It is composed of different types of cells namely, sieve cells, phloem fibres and phloem parenchyma.
