Solution
The correct option is A Basal cell
After the fusion of egg cell with the male gamete, a zygote is formed. The zygote divides by asymmetric mitotic division to form two daughter cells, a smaller cell with dense cytoplasm towards the chalazal pole which is called the apical cell and a larger cell towards the micropylar pole which is called the basal cell. Apical cell eventually gives rise to most of the embryo while the basal cell divides several times transversely to produce a thread of cells called the suspensor.
Hence, the suspensor of the embryo is formed by the basal cell.
