Solution

The correct option is A

Renewable resources

Answer: (A) renewable resources

Sustainable development focuses more on the judicious utilisation of renewable resources for the development of mankind and nations. Renewable resources can be replenished in the lifespan of human beings, whereas non-renewable resources cannot replenish itself in short time period, it take millions of years for formation of non-renewable resources like coal, petroleum, gasoline etc.

Renewable resource

A type of natural resource which will replenish itself to replace the portion depleted by consumption and usage. These are the resources which can be reproduced or renewed through various mechanical, chemical or physical processes. Renewable resource is also known as a flow resource.

Abiotic resources

Non-living resources like gold, silver, copper, iron, water, land and air are classified as abiotic resources.

Natural resources

On the basis of renewability, natural resources are classified into two types i.e. non-renewable resources and renewable resources. Natural resources can be classified as localised resources and ubiquitous resources on the basis of distribution. Natural resources are derived from the environment.

Agricultural resources

To carry out farming activities, certain resources are absolutely essential. These resources can be classified as agricultural resources. Some of the examples of agricultural resources are farm labour, machinery, water, land, and fertilisers.

Land

  • The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) is an important United Nations organisation. FAO has divided farm land into 3 main categories – pastures, plantations and arable land.
  • The arable land is used for the production of agriculture crops like grains, vegetables, cereals, and other crops.

Water

  • Water is a very pivotal resource for farming activities, without water agricultural activities can never be sustainable.

Agriculture Labor

  • Agricultural labourers are a very important resource for all agricultural activities.

Fertilisers

  • Fertilisers are available in organic or synthetic form and fertilisers are also available from natural organic sources like manures. Fertilisers are very important agricultural inputs for efficient farming activity.

Machinery

  • One of the ways of increasing productivity of the farms is through using farm machineries. Machinery resources can lead to successful farming operations.
  • Transport trucks for the movement of the farm inputs and outputs, specialised machines like seeders and planters, tractors for plowing, aerial sprayers, harvesters and combines play a very important role in farming.
