Solution

The correct option is C total heat produced in resistor R1 after opening the switch is 12R2LV2(R1+R2)R2
Given that;-
Switch S is closed for a long time
When switch S is closed

I=ER

And this current will not flow through R1 and R2 as L is acting like a simple wire
Energy stored in inductor L
UL=12LI2=12(R)2

At t=0, when switch is opened R will not be part of circuit. Here, no heat will produce in R.
The stored energy in inductor will result in heat in R1 and R2.
The inductor energy will dissipate in resistance R1 and R2 in the ratio 1R1 and 1R2

Heat produce in R1

HR1=(R2R1+R2)UL

=(R2R1+R2)×12×L(R)2

HR1=12L2R2(R2R1+R2)

hence, option C is correct.
