Solution

STEP 1: Draw a line segment AB with length 8.5 cm using ruler.

STEP 2: Take a compass, open it to length 4.3 cm, using ruler.

STEP 3: Place the compass pointer at A and mark an arc on line segment AB.

STEP 4: Mark the point at which arc intersect line segment as C.

STEP 5: Now line segment is divided into two parts AC and CB.
