The destruction of natural habitat is the primary threat to biodiversity. When the natural habitats are diminished then the flora and fauna have no place to survive and thrive and it will lead to the extinction.

Disturbance and degradation of habitat-natural disturbances and degradation are caused by spontaneous jungle fire, pest infection deforestation, by an insect, locust attack etcetera. Man-made disturbances and degradation and more severe. They include felling of trees use of fire for clearing forest areas, a collection of litter and overexploitation for other economic important products. Disturbances and degradation result in a loss of biodiversity.
