Solution

Step 1: Given information:

Rate of GST=12%

Cost of sescter=Rs.3,600

Final payment Tanya did to purchase sescter including GST==Rs.3,366

Step 2: Calculate cost price:

Let the cost price for Tanya be Rs.x excluding GST

x+12%ofx=3,366x+12100x=3,366x+325x=3,3662825x=3,366x=3,366×2528x=Rs.3,005.35

Step 3: The reduction needed in the cost price of the designer dress :

Reduction=3,600-3,005.35=Rs.594.65

Step 4: Reduction percentage:

Reduction%=594.653600×100Reduction%=16.5%

Hence,

(i) The reduction needed in the cost price of the designer dress is Rs. 594.65.

(ii) The reduction is 16.5%
