The sound waves pass through the external ear and vibrate the tympanum. This vibration is then transmitted to the ear ossicles which vibrates the oval window. The vibration further causes fluid inside the cochlea to move. As a result, the sensory hair cells of the Organ of Corti of the cochlea are stimulated and impulses are generated. These impulses then reach the cerebrum through the optic nerve.
