Water needs to be purified before its consumption and it is done by killing the germs and removing other impurities.
Water fit for drinking purposes is called potable water.
Drinking water should be transparent, colourless, and odourless.
It should be free from suspended impurities, harmful micro-organisms, or germs that cause infections and diseases.
It should contain minerals and salts, necessary for our body, and some dissolved gases to add taste.
