Lord Wellesley annexed some Indian territories under the subsidiary alliance system. Mysore did not accept this till Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore passed away while fighting the last Anglo-Mysore war against the British. Mysore was then annexed into the British colony in 1799 CE.
