It has features like moisture stress, single cropping pattern (mainly coarse grains) and prevalence in arid and semi arid areas. In India it is common in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and some parts of Gujarat.
Israel is a pioneer in dryland farming by using innovative tools of crop managemnt,water conservation and intensive use of Micro irrigation methods.
India has also laid plans like Neeranchal watershed development programmes and input subsidy to micro irrigation equipments to support Dryland Farming.
