The 4R’s in principle refer to reduce, reuse, recycle and recover.
Let us discuss in brief, what each of these words can be useful in eliminating plastic pollution.
Refuse: Refusing to buy or accept unnecessary plastic products. [1 Mark]
Reduce: As the word by itself states, we must try to reduce the use of non-biodegradable compounds which are harmful to the whole of nature and all the beings living in it. [1 Mark]
Reuse: By reusing most of the non-biodegradable things we throw away, we can reduce the harmful waste being released into nature. [1 Mark]
Recycle: This process is a continuation of the previous process of Reusing. The recycling process refers to the process wherein the waste plastics, that can’t be reused and will have to be thrown away go through a process, wherein another product is made from the waste. [1 Mark]
