Solution:
Sun heats up the Earth's surface.
This heats up the air above the Earth's surface.
As the air rises up, it loses it heat, making the temperature of the air at that altitude low.
Hence, temperature decreases with altitude.
Thus, places at the lower surface are hotter than the places higher in height.
Places like Delhi are very hot during summers but at the same time hill stations like Shimla are not that cold.
