Dear student,

At constant T, according to Boyle’s law:

P1V1 = P2V2 -------(1)
Assume;
P1 = 100
P2 = increases 20 % = 100 +20 = 120
V1 = V
V2 = Need to calculate
Plug the values in equation (1)
100 x V = 120 x V2
V2 = 100 V / 120 = 0.83 V
Hence volume is reduced to 0.83 of initial volume.
