Split tensile test is used to determine tensile strength of concrete.
This test is also known as Brazilian test. In this test , a cylindrical specimen of length 30 cm and dia 15 cm is loaded horizontally in between the steel plates of universal testing machine and subjected to a gradual compressive load of 2 N/mm2 per minute upto failure.
