Solution

The correct option is D
Linear
Megaspore tetrad
A megaspore mother cell in the ovule divides by meiosis to produce a linear tetrad of four haploid megaspores.
Out of the four megaspores formed, three megaspores degenerate and disappear while the one, which lies towards the chalazal end, remains functional and divides mitotically to give rise to the embryo sac. This is also called monosporic development.
