Given expression: 5m2+50m+125

Taking the common factor 5 from all the terms, we get, 5m2+50m+125=5(m2+10m+25) ...(i)

Now, consider the expression m2+10m+25 from (i)

Using the identity: (a+b)2=a2+2ab+b2,

(1 mark)

The expression m2+10m+25can be written as, m2+2m(5)+52

m2+2m(5)+52 =(m+5)2...(ii)

From (i) and (ii), we get 5m2+50m+125=5(m2+10m+25)=5(m+5)2

(0.5 mark)

Hence, the factorised form of the expression 5m2+50m+125 is 5(m+5)2.
