If 3 kg of sugar contains 9×108 crystals. How many sugar crystals are there in 4 kg of sugar?

Let the required number of crrystals be x.
Surgar (in kg) 3 4
Number of crystals 9×108 x

Since the two quantities are directly proportional to each other.

x1y1=x2y2

39×108=4x

3×x=4×9×108

x=4×9×1083

=12×108=1.2×109

Hence, the required number of crystals =1.2×109.
