Question

In a shower, 5 cm of rain falls. Find the volume of water that falls on 2 hectares of ground.

Open in App
Solution

Area of ground =2 hectares.

Now we know that, 1 hectare =10000 m2 or 104 m2

Therefore, area of ground =2×104 m2

Now, we also know that 1 cm=1100 m

Therefore, the height of the rain fall =5100 m

Hence, Volume of water that falls on the ground = Area of the ground × height of the rainfall

=5100×2×104 m3

=10×102×104

=103 m3
