Given polynomial is $3 x^{2} + 5 x - 7 x - 7 x^{6} + 3$ , which can written in descending powers of variable $x$ as
$- 7 x^{6} + 3 x^{2} - 2 x + 3$ .

Since the degree of a polynomial is highest power of variable in that polynomial.
It is obvious to say that term $- 7 x^{6}$ contains the highest power of $x$ which is 6.
Hence degree of $- 7 x^{6} + 3 x^{2} - 2 x + 3$ is 6
