The ILD for the horizontal thrust in
3-hinged arch is shown below:

$To obtain the maximum thrust at support put the 30 k N load at the crown$
$∙$ $Ordinate of ILD under 20 k N$

$\frac{7}{10} \times \frac{20}{4 \times 4} = 0.875$

$A l s o, \frac{L}{4 h} = \frac{20}{16} = 1.25$

$∴ H o r i z o n t a l t h r u s t = 30 \times 1.25 + 20 \times 0.875$
$= 55 k N$
