The above triangle is right angled triangle with hypotenuse equal to 10 cm. Find the length of the sides containing the right angle.

The correct option is A 6 cm,8 cm
We know that 3,4,5 is a Pythagorean triplet.

Hence,

6,8,10 is also a Pythagorean triplet.

6=3×2,8=4×2,10=5×2

Now in the above case the hypotenuse is 10.

Therefore x has to be 6.

While the base is x+2=6+2=8, so as to match the Pythagorean triplet 6,8,10.

Hence, the sides are 6,8,10.

Alternatively , we can use Pythagoras theorem, and formulate the quadratic equation whose roots are the above sides.
