Suppose the height will be- h

The acceleration due to gravity at height h is g'.

Then, g'=g2

Step 2: Formula used:

The acceleration because of gravity is g=GmR2----1

Where, G is gravitational constant, R is the radius of the earth, m is the mass of the earth.

The acceleration because of gravity at height h is g'=Gm(R+h)2----2

Step 2: Calculating the height

On dividing, equation 2 by equation 1 we get-

g'g=R2(R+h)2

Substitute g'=g2,

g2g=R2×1R2(R+h)2×1R212=11+hR212=1+hR-2

If the value of h<<R. So, after expanding the series,

12=12hR2hR=12h=R4

So, at height h=R4, the acceleration due to gravity becomes g2.

Hence, option B is the correct answer.
