The Equal Remuneration Act, 1976 provides that equal wages should be paid to equal work. However, in almost all areas of work, from sports and cinema, to factories and fields, women are paid less than men, even when both so exactly the same work.Indian Parliament has enacted the equal remuneration act, 1976, to implement Art.39(d). The act provides for payment of equal remuneration to mend and women workers for the same work, or work of a similar nature and for the prevention of discrimination against recruitment of women and provides for the setting up of advisory committees to promote employment opportunities for a women.
