The adjacent sides of a rectangle are in the ratio 5:3 and the area of the rectangle is 29.4cm2. Find the length of the rectangle.

Adjacent sides of the rectangle are nothing but its length and the breadth.
Let the length of the rectangle =5a cm and breadth =3a cm.
Area of the rectangle =l×b=29.4cm2
5a×3a=29.4
a2=29.45×3=1.96
a=1.96=1.4

Hence, the length of the rectangle =5a=7cm and breadth =3a=4.2cm.
