The age of the fossil of Dryopithecus on the geologic time scale is 15 mya. It is discovered from the Miocene rocks of Africa and Europe. They were knuckle walkers (walked like gorillas and chimpanzees) and regarded as the common ancestor of man and apes. Their body is covered with hairs and they were ape-like have had large canines and ate fruits and leaves.
