If this hormone secretion is reduced, there is an increased production of urine. This disorder is called (c) _________ . Solution

Antidiuretic hormone (ADH):

  1. It is also called vasopressin and is secreted by the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland.
  2. It reduces the water being expelled in the form of urine during dehydration of the body.
  3. Deficiency of ADH can cause diabetes insipidus which results in too much urination.

Insulin:

  1. It is produced by the beta cells of the pancreas.
  2. It reduces hyperglycemia by signaling the cells to take up glucose for energy.
  3. Deficiency of this hormone can lead to diabetes mellitus

Hence, The amount of urine output is under regulation of a hormone called (a) Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) secreted by the (b) Posterior lobe of the pituitary gland. If this hormone secretion is reduced, there is an increased production of urine. This disorder is called (c) Diabetes insipidus . Sometimes excess glucose is passed with urine due to hypo secretion of another hormone called (d) Insulin leading to the cause of a disease called (e) Diabetes mellitus.
