Ni98O100 means total charge due to oxygen atomes =2×100=200

Total due to Ni ions must be +200.

Let number of Ni2+ions=x.

Number of Ni3+ions=(98x)

(+2)(x)+(+3)(98x)=+200

x=94

Fraction of Ni as Ni2+=9498×100=96%

and fraction of Ni as Ni3+=498×100=4%.

Hence, the correct option is C
