Solution

The sum of all the three angles of a triangle are 180 Degree.and x, y and 40 degree are three angles of a triangle. x + y + 40 = 180 x+y =180-40 x+y= 140 ...............................Equation (1)The difference between the two angles x and y is given as 30 degree. x-y = 30 ...............................Equation (2)On adding equation (1) and equation (2), x+y +x-y= 140 + 30 2x= 170 x= 1702= 85 degreesand y = 140 - x= 140 - 85 = 55 degrees x= 85 degrees and y = 55 degrees
