The apparent weight of a solid will be __________ in a heavier liquid than in a lighter liquid.

Solution

  1. When an object floats in a liquid, the buoyant force exerted on it by the liquid must equal the total weight of the object.
  2. If greater the density of a liquid then the apparent weight of an object will be lesser.
  3. If the density of the liquid is lesser then the apparent weight will be greater.

Hence, the apparent weight of a solid will be less in a heavier liquid than in a lighter liquid.
