Question

The area of a parallelogram with base 24cm is equal to the area of a triangle of sides 10cm,24cm and 26cm. Find the altitude of the parallelogram.

Area of a parallelogram=bh=24×h=24h
Perimeter of triangle with sides 10cm,24cm and 26cm is
s=a+b+c2=10+24+262=602=30cm
Area of triangle using Heron's formula=s(sa)(sb)(sc)
where s=30cm , a=10cm,b=24cm and c=26cm
Area of triangle=30(3010)(3024)(3026)
=30×20×6×4
=6×5×5×4×4×6=6×5×4=120sq.m
Given Area of parallelogram= Area of triangle
24h=120
h=12024=5m
