The area of a rectangle garden 50m long is 300sqm. Find the width of the garden.

  • Let the width of the garden be xm.
  • The area A of the rectangle with length l and width w is given by, A=lw.

Step 1: Substitue 300 for A, 50 for l and x for w into A=lw and solve for w.

300=50x

Step 2: Divide both sides of the equation by 50 and solve for w.

30050=50x506m=x

Hence, the width of the garden is 6m.
