The area of a rectangular plot is $340m^2$ and its breadth is $17m$. Find the cost of surrounding the plot with a fence at $Rs5.70$ per metre.

As we know that area of rectangle $\left(A\right)$ is given as-

$A=l\times b$

Let the length of the rectangular plot be $x$ meter.

Given:-

Area of rectangular plot $=340m^2$

Breadth of rectangular plot $=17m$

$\therefore x\times 17=340$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{340}{17}=20m$

Hence the lenth of rectangular plot is $20m$.

As the perimeter of the rectangle is given as-

$p=2(l+b)$

$\therefore p=2(17+20)$

$\Rightarrow p=2\times 37=74m$

Cost of fencing given $=Rs.5.70$ per metre

Therefore,

Cost of fencing for $74m=5.7\times 74=Rs.421.8$

Hence the cost of surrounding the plot with a fence is $Rs.421.8$.
