The area of a rhombus one side of which measures 20 cm and one of whose diagonals is 24 cm, is -
Diagonal, d1=24cm, Length of side s=20cm, Diagonal d2=x.
By pythagoras’ theorem,
202=(d12)2+(x2)2
⇒400=(242)2+(x2)2
⇒400=144+(x2)2
⇒x2=(4)(400−144)=(4)(256)
⇒x=32cm
Diagonal, d2=32cm.
Area of a rhombus =12×24×32=384cm2.
