The area of a trapezium is $198{cm}^2$ and its height is $9cm$. If one of the parallelogram sides is longer than the other by $8cm$, find the two parallel sides.

Let shorter side = x then longer side = $x+8$

Area = $\frac{1}{2}h(a+b)$

$198=\frac{1}{2}\times 9\times (x+x+8)$

$\frac{198\times 2}{9}=44=2x+8$

$\Rightarrow 2x=36$

$\Rightarrow x=18$

$\therefore$ shorter side = $18cm$

longer side = $26cm$
