The area of a Trapezium is 248 sq metre and its height is 8m if one of the parallel sides is smaller than other by 4 m, find two parallel sides.

Given: Area of trapezium= 248 m²
Height (h)= 8 m
Let the one parallel side be$=xm$
Other parallel side $=(x-4)m$
Area of trapezium = $\frac{1}{2}$ ( sum of parallel sides) $\times$ height
$248=\frac{1}{2}(x+x-4)\times 8$
$\Rightarrow 248=(2x-4)\times 4$
$\Rightarrow \frac{248}{4}=2x-4$
$\Rightarrow 62=2x-4$
$\Rightarrow 62+4=2x$
$\Rightarrow 66=2x$
$\Rightarrow x=\frac{66}{2}$
$\therefore x=33$
One parallel side $\left(x\right)=33m$
Other parallel side $(x-4)=33-4=29m$
