The area of a trapezium is 34 cm2 and the length of one of the parallel sides 10 cm and its height is 4 cm. Find the length of the other parallel side.

Let the required other side=xcm
Area of the trapezium=12×[sumofparallelsides]×[Height]
34=12×[10+x]×4
or, 2×344=10+x
or, 10+x=17
=x=1710=7cm
Hence, the required other side=7cm.
