The area of a trapezium is 34 cm${}^2$ and the length of one of the parallel sides 10 cm and its height is 4 cm. Find the length of the other parallel side.

Let the required other side$=xcm$

Area of the trapezium$=\frac{1}{2}\times \left[sumofparallelsides\right]\times \left[Height\right]$

$34=\frac{1}{2}\times \left[10+x\right]\times 4$

$or,$ $\frac{2\times 34}{4}=10+x$

$or,$ $10+x=17$

$=x=17-10=7cm$

Hence, the required other side$=7cm.$
