Question

The area of a trapezium is 475 cm2 and its height is 19 cm. Find the lengths of its two parallel sides if one side is 4 cm greater than the other.

Open in App
Solution

Let the length of smaller parallel side= x cm

then length of Larger parallel side=( x+ 4) cm

So, Area of trapezium= 1/2(sum of parallel side)* Height

=> 475= 1/2 (x+ x+4)*19

=> 475 = (x+2)*19

=> 25= x+2

=> x= 23 cm

so, smaller parallel side= 23 cm

Now, largest parallel side= 23+4= 27cm
