The area of an A0 paper is one square metre. What are the lengths of the sides of an A3 paper ? (answer in millimetres)
480.382, 297.3
Given A0=1 m2
We know that the ratio of A0 to A3 is 8:1.
A0A3=81
1A3=81
A3=18 m2
Let the length of the A3 paper be x and breadth be y respectively.
The length of an A3 paper is √2 times its breadth.
i.e., x=√2y ...(i)
Also, A3=x×y
⟹18=√2y×y (From eqn. (i))
⟹y2=18√2
⟹y2=√28×2
⟹y2=√216=0.0883883
⟹y=0.2973 m=297.3 mm
Now x=√2×y implies x=1.414×297.3=420.382 mm
