The correct option is C 15 cm
The pressure on the piston on wider tube side will be due to atmospheric pressure (Po) and weight of block.
Pressure on piston,
P1=mgA+Po
Similarly, on the other side, pressure at the same level of the thinner tube side,
P2=ρgh+Po


According to Pascal's law,

P1=P2

mgA+Po=ρgh+Po

12×10800×104=1000×10×h

h=0.15 m=15 cm
Application: We can observe that a 12 kg block can be balanced by just a 15 cm difference of liquid level. This feature is used in designing "hydraulic lift".
