The correct option is D 89 m2
The length of the given rectangle is 50 m and breadth is 40 m
The area of shaded region parallel to length =50×1=50m2

The area of shaded region parallel to breath =40×1=40m2

But the area of the middle square is counted twice

So by subtracting the area of the square from the total area we get,

Then the actual area of the shaded region =50+40(1×1)=89 Sq m
