Solution
The correct option is Bn¯x−Am Arithmetic mean of n observations = ¯x
If x1+x2+.....,xn are n observations then x1+x2+.....+xnn=¯x ⇒x1+x2+.....+xn=n¯x ...........(i)
Also given that the sum of (n-m) observations is A. ∴x1+x2+.....+xn−m=A .........(ii)
From (i) x1+....+xn−m+xn−m+1+.....+xn=n¯x ⇒A+xn−m+1+.....+xn=n¯x ⇒xn−m+1+xn−m+2+.....+xn=n¯x−A [from (i) and (ii)] ∴ Mean of last m observations, xn−m+1+xn−m+2+.....+xnm=n¯x−Am
Hence, the correct answer is option b.
