In the embryo sac, three cells are grouped together at the micropylar end, called the egg apparatus. The egg apparatus consists of two synergids and one egg cell. The two polar nuclei are situated in the centre. The three antipodal cells are present at the chalazal end of the embryo sac. Hence the arrangement of nuclei in the embryo sac which constitutes the egg apparatus, central cell and the antipodals is 3+2+3.
